Artificial turf or natural sod installed over a properly graded, draining base with clean edges — usually the play, pet or putting area inside a larger design.

The site decides the design. We plan for yours.
Slopes & retaining walls
In the City of San Diego, retaining walls over 3 feet — or walls holding a load like a driveway — need a building permit (Information Bulletin 220). Wall heights and terracing are part of the design, so you know early whether your plan needs one.
Drainage & soil
Slope, soil and where the water goes after a storm are assessed at the site review on every project — not discovered at install.
Fire-safe first 5 feet (Zone 0)
City of San Diego Zone 0 rules limit what can grow or burn within 5 feet of a home. They apply to new homes now and phase in for existing homes starting February 28, 2027. In a fire hazard zone, we plan that first 5 feet with ember-resistant materials.
Water-wise planting
Local water districts run turf-replacement rebates for living, water-wise landscapes — artificial turf and solid hardscape don't qualify. Ask how a planting plan can fit the program rules.

In an HOA community? Bring your architectural guidelines to the consultation and we design within them from the first sketch.
